As summer sweeps a warm breath of life into our hearts, it’s that time of year - wedding season. A time for loving celebrations featuring the season’s freshest trends and styles (and something we look forward to every year). In this blog we’re going to take a look at the changes among wedding trends and features, and the newest ways to celebrate the happiest day in a young couple’s life.
Furniture is our passion, so let’s start there. One of the hottest ways to stage the wedding experience is with long rectangular, banquet-style tables. We love the open look and feel of banquet style seating but stopped to think, why is this trend catching on here and now?
As often noted, millennials love experiences. Increasingly, we see young people opting to spend their hard-earned cash on long-distance vacations or outdoor activities rather than choosing the more material diet of previous generations.
Banquet-style wedding tables play directly into that idea. With a long rectangular reception table, there’s an endless number of ways a wedding couple can choose to lay out their dinner. Banquet tables facilitate conversation and provide an intimate setting without the mix-and-match round table layouts of the past.
Gone are the days of shunning guests to the far reaches of the reception; with long rectangular banquet tables the entire space feels inclusive. Additively, backyard and garden-style weddings are continuing to be popular; imagine a beautiful open layout with long banquet tables adorning a verdant green lawn. If that doesn’t scream happiest day of our lives, then we don’t know what does!
The strongest wedding trend that we are seeing today is the newfound desire to see the wedding day as an experience, a festive occasion to be shared and remembered rather than a more stiff and formal ritual. Banquet tables encapsulate that spirit perfectly; talking and laughing with those closest to you is in many ways the most beautiful part of a wedding celebration.
While nobody can predict the exact direction wedding trends are going next, we feel confident that the long banquet table is here to stay. What new and exciting twists this trend will take, we just don’t know. But we sure can’t wait to find out!
